Flexible Learning Conference
30.09.2010

The conference on Flexible Learning organised by the National Academy (NAIRTL) and the Learning Innovation Network (LIN) will take place on October 6th-7th next.
The event will highlight ways in which Higher Education staff can design curricula and implement courses to give students increased choice of where, when and how they learn. The conference will feature a large number of research papers, workshops and poster presentations from UCC staff particularly under the sub-theme Integrative Learning in which topic UCC staff have special expertise.

The Irish Integrative Learning Project (IILP) is a collaborative project between UCC (lead partner), Waterford IT and the Irish Law Society and it aims to identify national examples of teaching which foster integrative learning by students. Student learning in Higher Education has the potential to be fragmented across courses, over time and between on-campus and ‘real world’ experiences due to modularisation and mobility.

The Flexible Learning conference will be held in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Dublin, from October 6th-7th and will feature oral presentations, webinars, workshops and poster sessions. Conference delegates will also have the opportunity to avail of free training in the use of particular software packages to facilitate flexible learning on the afternoon of October 7th.

For those of you unable to attend in person there will be a live stream of the conference on October 6th and 7th available at http://flashhost.heanet.ie/nairtl_lin/live.html. Video recordings from the event will be made available on the NAIRTL website also in due course. Visit http://www.nairtl.ie/conference
