The Lewis Glucksman Gallery is pleased to present new work by Eoin McHugh, a two-part project commissioned by the gallery in response to the current exhibition Thingamajig: the secret life of objects.
The artist will be in conversation with Matt Packer, Curator of Exhibitions + Projects at 1pm, today, Thursday April 22nd.  Admission Fee.

As part of his research for the project, Mc Hugh spent time at UCC photographing laboratories and specimens in the departments of Chemistry and Zoology, Ecology and Plant Sciences. The first part of the project consists of a series of black and white watercolour drawings that will be integrated into the displays of the Thingamajig exhibition. The drawings respond to the exhibition themes of how objects are collected, narrated, and transformed over time as well as representing the artist’s ongoing interest in the psychology of imagery. The second part of the project will be a limited edition artist book, to be published in late 2010.

Eoin Mc Hugh (b. 1977, Dublin) lives and works in Dublin. Recent solo exhibitions include Kerlin Gallery, Dublin (2009), Centre d’art Contemporain, Chateau des Adhemar, Montelimar, France (2007-08), and Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin (2006). Mc Hugh has also participated in many group exhibitions including Precaution, Irish Museum of Modern Art (2005); EV+A, Limerick (2006); The Square Root of Drawing, Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin (2006); Rendez Vous, in conjunction with the Lyon Biennale, France (2007), travelling to Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai, China (2008); Don’t Box me in, Galeria Leme, San Paolo, Brazil (2007); and Flight of the Dodo, Project Arts Centre, Dublin (2008). In tandem with its exhibition and education programmes, the Lewis Glucksman Gallery invites artists to create and show new work that responds to the academic and cultural contexts in which the gallery operates. Previous projects have included Tue Greenfort’s Micro Macro, Patrizia Karda’s Mezzanine, and Garrett Phelan’s audio archive currently online at http://www.atwhatpointwillcommonsenseprevail.com
