Postgraduates at UCC’s Geography Department recently celebrated the launch of the 25th edition of their journal, Chimera.

The Silver Jubilee edition represents 25 years of uninterrupted publication of Chimera. Since its inception in 1986, the journal has gone from strength to strength publishing a wide range of informative articles highlighting themes of interest for the geographer and indeed any of those interested in geography-related matters.

The Dean of the Graduate Studies at UCC, Professor Alan Kelly, who officially launched the 25th edition, commented on the journal’s wide and important range of geographic themes which include pertinent global matters, such as sea-level change, renewable energy and urban planning. “Chimera has never had more relevance to us all than it does now”, he said. Dr Barry Brunt, Head of the Geography Department and its editor, Gearoid McCarthy, a current PhD candidate also spoke at the launch.
