Ms Katja Frimberger, who completed her Masters in Drama & Theatre Studies in UCC in 2008, and has spent the last year working in Venezuela, has been awarded a valuable three-year scholarship in Glasgow University.
The scholarship will enable Katja to work in the field of Applied Theatre and Drama under the direction
of Professor Alison Phipps at the School of Education in Glasgow
University. As part of her Masters in UCC, Katja focused her studies in the area of Applied Theatre and Drama and presented a dissertation supervised by Dr Manfred Schewe on The Pedagogy of Strangeness - exploring how foreignness and strangeness may operate in an educational context. She is now planning a study of how the theatre training and rehearsal practices of German dramatist Bertolt Brecht might provide an embodied, ethnographic foundation for intercultural education.
