New York Alumni Dinner

Seventy five graduates and friends of UCC were reunited recently at the first annual UCC New York Alumni Dinner held at the Princeton Club in Manhattan.

Seventy five graduates and friends of UCC were reunited recently at the first annual UCC New York Alumni Dinner held at the Princeton Club in Manhattan.
Among the guests was UCC alumnus Micheál Martin, TD, Minister for Foreign Affairs along with H.E. Michael Collins, Ambassador of Ireland and Niall Burgess, Consul General of Ireland.
Dr Michael Murphy, President, UCC, welcomed alumni and friends. He updated the graduates on developments at the University and reaffirmed the key role they can play in the international outreach of UCC.
Dr Damian Bracken, History Department, UCC introduced guests to the ArCH project (Armarium codicum hibernensium — the Bookcase of Irish Manuscripts), an initiative undertaken by the University through which a series of facsimile editions of major historical Irish manuscripts will be created, thereby making this material accessible to researchers, both nationally and internationally, and creating an awareness in the wider community of Ireland's rich cultural patrimony.
Minister Martin addressed the guests reminiscing about his student days at UCC and referred to the benefit gained through staying in contact with one’s Alma Mater.
According to UCC’s Director of Development & Alumni, Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law: “Feedback from a survey following the event has been tremendously positive. The evening was a great success and provided a wonderful opportunity for meeting fellow graduates and making new contacts.”
