Corona Cork Film Festival and MEDIA Desk Ireland, in partnership with the Department of Management and Marketing, UCC, hosted Cork Film Forum Friday last, November 6th.

This forum was the first follow-up forum to the Global Irish Economic Forum held in Farmleigh last September.  The event, sponsored by Screen Producers Ireland and FAS Screen Training Ireland, gathered together some of Ireland's most successful talent from film, television and new media to discuss the future of the motion picture industry in Ireland.  Conceived during the EU Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009, and held under the auspices of same, the forum's objective was to forge a future for Irish film using Irish creativity and innovation. 

Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Micheál Martin, TD, delivered the Opening Address, followed by the acclaimed and celebrated Irish filmmaker, George Morrison.   Donncha Kavanagh, Department of Management and Marketing, UCC, then spoke, and finally, the keynote speech was delivered by the Maltese Ambassador for the EU Year of Creativity and Innovation, De Edward de Bono.  Following this, the delegates broke into working groups to discuss a set of topics.  The forum was closed by the musician and broadcaster, Philip King, the forum's rapporteur.
