US Delegation visits UCC

UCC President, Dr Michael Murphy, welcomed a delegation from Quinnipiac University, Connecticut today (Friday, April 11th 2008). The delegation, led by Dr John L. Lahey, President of the University, are on a two-day visit to UCC, hosted by UCC's International Education Office.
During the course of the two-day visit, the delegation held discussions with many senior members of academic and administrative staff at UCC.

Quinnipiac University, located in New Haven, Connecticut, is a major provider to UCC of study abroad students from the United States with 46 students enrolled for the Spring Semester. Quinnipiac University, founded in 1929 is a private, coeducational institution of higher education located in New Haven, Connecticut offering undergraduate and postgraduate students more than 70 programmes of study in Business, Education, Health Sciences, Law, Liberal Arts and Communications. Following a visit by the Director of the Office of International Education at Quinnipiac, Patrick Frazier, to UCC in 2005, a co-operation agreement was signed with the first intake of Quinnipiac students enrolled at UCC in 2006.

A reception for the delegation which included Dr John L. Lahey, President, Quinnipiac University, Dr Kathleen McCourt, Senior Vice-President of Academic and Student Affairs and Dr Manual Carreiro, Vice-President and Dean of Students at Quinnpiac University, was hosted by Councillor Donal Counihan, Lord Mayor of Cork.

Currently, UCC caters for 2,000 international students representing 80-plus countries worldwide.
