UCC's School of Pharmacy hosts the 30th All Ireland Schools of Pharmacy Research Seminar
03.04.2008

UCC's School of Pharmacy will this year host the 30th All-Ireland Schools of Pharmacy Research Seminar on April 3rd-4th.

The seminar is an annual event which focuses on the diversity of pharmaceutical research being conducted in University College Cork, Trinity College, Dublin, Royal College of Surgeons Dublin and Queen's University Belfast.

This is the first time that UCC will host the Research Seminar which rotates annually between each School.  All staff, students, postgraduates and postdocs are encouraged to participate. The programme will include research presentations from all four Schools of Pharmacy on Thursday 3rd (afternoon) and Friday 4th (morning).  Heads of the various research areas within the Schools are asked to nominate postgraduates for oral presentations of 20 minutes (15 minutes presentation + 5 minutes questions).

Poster presentations will also form an integral part of the meeting.  Postgraduates, postdocs and staff are encouraged to participate in the poster sessions and submit abstracts.  As an added incentive, there will be a prize for the best poster presentation.

"This seminar gives us the opportunity to show our colleagues the strength and diversity of current research in the Schools and provides a unique platform upon which postgraduate students can exercise their presentation skills and the conference offers the opportunity to build upon and strengthen relationships between the academics of the four schools", said Professor Caitriona O'Driscoll, Head, School of Pharmacy, UCC.
