UCC hosts Annual Research Conference on Food, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences

UCC's Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences with the Faculty of Food Science and Technology hosts the 38th Annual Research Conference on Food, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences today (Thursday, September 4th 2008).

UCC's Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences with the Faculty of Food Science and Technology hosts the 38th Annual Research Conference on Food, Nutrition and Consumer Sciences today (Thursday, September 4th 2008).
The Conference takes place in the Cavanagh Pharmacy and Food Science and Technology Buildings.
The 38th Annual Research Conference, as all previous meetings, will be attended by a large number of researchers and students across institutions in Ireland and abroad. There will be 37 oral technical papers and 65 poster presentations. These presentations cover all areas of Food Science and Technology, including Food Business, Food Microbiology and Safety, Nutrition and Sensory Science. The Conference will be opened at 8.50 am by Professor Emeritus P.F Fox followed by a General Session with emphasis on Sensory Science. All papers will compete for prizes in relevant categories which are sponsored by SafeFood, Alimentary Pharmabiotic Center and Reagecon.
This Annual Research Conference has provided researchers and students in Ireland with the opportunity to meet and discuss research for a number of decades. Today's Conference in 2008 includes a very visible international participation and presentations by students from a broader international background. The day will culminate at the Prizegiving Ceremony at 6 pm followed by an Informal Dinner at the Hawthorn Lakeside Restaurant.
