Ken Reynolds, a PhD student in the Tyndall National Institute, has been chosen by industry experts as the best Technology Commercialisation project on the HEA Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) Commercialisation training course for PhD students.
The module is a collaboration between UCC, NUIG and TCD, involving students from the three campuses. It aims to deliver a national collaborative programme on commercialisation of research and technology transfer, focusing on generic business principles for early stage new entrants to the research market, right up to researchers with specific technology projects with commercial potential.
This programme has been funded by the HEA Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) to development generic training modules for PhD students, a UCC- led initiative.
The winning presentation applied nanotechnology to point of care medical diagnostics and earned the researcher a cash prize and business development support, sponsored by Kernel Capital.
