Top Civil Servant to deliver Philip Monahan Memorial Lecture

Dermot McCarthy, Secretary General to the Government, will deliver the 10th Annual Philip Monahan Memorial Lecture at UCC on Friday next, November 28th. Titled “Reforming the Public Sector”, the lecture takes place at 6.30pm in Boole III Lecture Theatre.
The lecture is organised by UCC’s Department of Government, celebrates the life of Philip Monahan who served as City Commissioner and City Manager in Cork from 1924-1959. As Ireland's first local authority manager, Monahan defined the role and the practice of public management in Ireland.

The prestigious Philip Monahan Public Lecture has previously been delivered by Mary McAleese, Robert Putnam, David Norris and John Hume.

The Department of Government annual student awards will also be presented on the night.

All are welcome and admission is free.
