Summer Conferring Ceremonies 2008

Some 596 graduates, mainly in Medicine & Health, will be conferred during this year’s UCC’s annual summer conferrings which began today, Thursday, June 19th 2008.


 

The first group of 343 graduates were conferred in: MB; BCh; BAO Medicine; BDS; MD; PhD (Medicine); BPharm (Pharmacy); BSc (Occupational Therapy); BSc (Speech & Language Therapy); MSc; MSc Occupational Health; MSC Advanced Healthcare Practice, and MMedSc (Sports & Exercise Medicine).

The guest speaker at the opening of the conferrings was Dr Tracey Cooper, Chief Executive, Health Information and Quality Authority, who congratulated the graduates for their dedication and determined hard work, and the faculty members who had so diligently guided and supported them through the various courses. The moment when they received their individual parchments was one was that would live them forever, she added. Dr Cooper said the graduates’ achievements and the new knowledge and wisdom they would bring to their chosen fields, would ensure a bright future, full of opportunities both at home and abroad.

Tomorrow, Friday June 20th, a further 253 graduates will be conferred in: BSc Public Health & Health Promotion, BSc (Nursing Studies), BSc Nursing (Intellectual Disability),  BSc Nursing (Psychiatric), and BSc Nursing (General).

Included in the overall number are 52 PhDs from across UCC’s four colleges. The guest speaker at tomorrow's ceremony will be Professor Anne Scott, Deputy President, DCU.
