UCC-led GINSENG research project exhibited at CeBIT Trade Fair

13 Mar 2012

The GINSENG research project, led by Prof. Cormac Sreenan of UCC Computer Science, was exhibited March 6-10 2012 at CeBIT, the world's largest ICT trade fair. GINSENG is funded by the European Commission and involves 8 partners from Ireland, England, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany and Portugal. The project solved the problem of providing performance control for wireless sensor networks, paving the way for commercial applications of this emerging technology for real-time industrial monitoring and control.

It was selected to exhibit in the "CeBIt Lab", which played host to technologies classed as being especially innovative. The partners showed a demonstration of the system that they have deployed at the Sines oil refinery in Portrugal, interfacing with IT software developed by German company SAP, a project partner.
