Professor Mary Horgan elected President of Royal College of Physicians Ireland

Professor Mary Horgan, Dean, School of Medicine has been elected as President Designate of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.  The appointment is the first appointment of a woman President to that position in the RCPI in its 360 year history.   Professor Mary Horgan will succeed Professor Frank Murray as President in October 2017.

She will become the 142nd President of RCPI at the Annual Stated Meeting in October 2017 and will serve a three-year term.

Professor Horgan was instrumental in the first RCPI office being open outside of Dublin in Brookfield Health Sciences Complex in December 2015.  She has a strong track record in supporting medical training initiatives and serves as Associate Dean of Basic Specialist Training with the RCPI and has taken a lead role in the development and training of post graduate doctors.
