12 Mar 2025

€3.2M of UCC licence income has been distributed university-wide over the past 5 years, with €1.3M distributed to inventors and a further €920K distributed to inventors’ schools and research centres. These are among the figures reported in UCC’s Innovation Impact Report for 2024, launched today by Vice President for Research and Innovation, Prof John Cryan and Director of UCC Innovation, Dr Sally Cudmore.

2024 was another exciting year of innovation and entrepreneurial activity across the UCC campus, marked by groundbreaking discoveries, ambitious new ventures, and a thriving culture of entrepreneurship. Throughout the year, UCC Innovation continued to expand innovation opportunities for students and researchers. New initiatives, such as the Entrepreneur in Residence Programme and UCC’s new Business Engagement portal, equip UCC students, researchers and staff with the information, skills and mindset to turn their ideas into impact.

UCC’s innovation pipeline remains strong, with several high-potential spin-out ventures in development.

Director of UCC Innovation, Dr Sally Cudmore said: “We’re very excited to share UCC Innovation’s Impact Report for 2024. A huge thank you to the entire UCC community for supporting and nurturing innovation across the UCC campus. Your contributions help us to build a strong culture of entrepreneurship and research-driven impact. This report highlights another year of incredible achievements and the difference our innovators are making, and we look forward to the year to come.”
