World Water Day 2022

22 Mar 2022
World Water Day 2022

World Water Day is held every year on March 22nd, and is an international celebration of water and the importance of protection water resources throughout the world.

The theme of World Water Day 2022 is groundwater, the often overlooked source of much of the world's drinking water. Groundwater is at risk in many regions from unsustainable abstraction, where excessive water draw threatens drinking water security, and contamination of groundwater sources. While groundwater issues may not be as visible as those that threaten surface waters, it is no less important. This year, on World Water Day, we are highlighting the essential part that groundwater plays in making life viable on this planet.
