English and Digital Humanities Welcome Event 2018
The School marks the start of a new academic year with book launches, undergraduate awards, and readings
The English and Digital Humanities Welcome Event 2018 offered the School an opportunity to recognise outstanding undergraduate achievements (including the Patricia Coughlan Award and the inaugural Éamonn Ó Carragáin Award for the highest marks in Old English).
Two books were also launched: Dr Joanna Hofer-Robinson's monograph 'Dickens and Demolition' and Dr Declan Taggart's monograph 'How Thor Lost His Thunder'.
Ali Bracken Ziad, winner of the inaugural Eoin Murray Scholarship in Creative Writing, read at the event, and Head of School Dr Lee Jenkins welcomed new and continuing students.
Hearty congratulations to all!
