Monarca (De norte a sur) is a powerful documentary examining the lived realities of Nicaraguan exiles in Costa Rica. Through the use of testimonies and archival registers, the film reflects questions of displacement, community building, and artistic collaboration, highlighting the role of creative practice. At its core, the film reflects on transformation: migration demands reinvention without severing cultural roots, and music becomes a vital tool for collective healing and resistance. Through conversations with exiled composers, musicians, and members of art collectives, the documentary connects intimate personal stories with broader political and social struggles.
