Portuguese Ambassador to Ireland Visits UCC

April 2013.

The Portugese ambassador to Ireland has told 96FM News that his government views Ireland as a model of how an economy should be turned around during a Troika bailout. Ambassador Bernardo Futscher Pereira was speaking as he signed a major education partnership between the Government of Portugal & UCC, which is the first Irish University to offer a degree in Portugese.

Portugal was given a €78 billion Troika bailout in 2011, and the ambassador says they look constantly to Irelands example when planning their eventual exit from the programme.
