The Poets Rising: World Voices with Basque poet Itxaro Borda

This year’s Fest, a century on from 1916, will open with ‘The Poets Rising: World Voices’. Four of the seven signatories of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic were poets. The featured poets in the opening event, from three different cultures, are: Bejan Matur, from Istanbul; the Scottish Makar (national poet) Liz Lochhead, and Itxaro Borda, a young poet from Euzkadi (Basque country).
