NPSO Poster Prize Awarded to Two 5th-Year Students for UTI Management Research

Congratulations to MPharm students and graduates Áine Monaghan and Natasha Benjamin-Payne on winning the National Patient Safety Organisation first prize poster in the Graduates and students Of the Last Decade (GOLD) Antimicrobial Resistance research award at the NPSO conference 19 October Dublin.
Their MPharm thesis research was:
'A qualitative study investigating the views of nurses and doctors on the management of urinary tract infections in long term care facilities'
The research identified key challenges and factors impacting on the management of UTIs in long term care facilities. This work has informed the development on ongoing antimicrobial stewardship initiatives by the Health Service Executive Antimicrobial Pharmacists. The research was supervised by Dr Aoife Fleming and Dr Teresa Barbosa, collaborating with Chief Antimicrobial Pharmacist and Adjunct Clinical Senior Lecturer Mala Shah.
