UCC Celebrates Quercus College Scholarship Recipients
In a celebration of academic excellence, the Quercus College Scholarships at the University College Cork's College of Medicine and Health recognized outstanding students who achieved top marks in the Summer 2023 CoMH examinations.
Among the recipients of this prestigious scholarship is Olga Andriyashchenko, a third-year pharmacy student at the School of Pharmacy, UCC, who was formally announced as the Quercus University Scholar for the College of Medicine and Health. Olga, who was born in Louth and raised in Cork, demonstrated her commitment to learning at Carrigaline Community School before embarking on her pharmacy journey at UCC. Professor Helen Whelton commended Olga as "undoubtedly a true scholar," highlighting her dedication to education and the pursuit of her dreams. Olga expressed her pride in being a part of the Quercus family and her aspiration to provide patients with the care they deserve.
While Olga Andriyashchenko took centre stage as the Quercus University Scholar, the School of Pharmacy also celebrated the remarkable achievements of four other talented students. Louise Cantwell (BPharm2), Marina Connolly (BPharm3), Catherine McGann (BPharm4), and Daniel Beechinor (MPharm) received Quercus College Scholarships for their academic accomplishments. Professor Brendan Griffin, Head of School of Pharmacy UCC, said,
We are celebrating some remarkable talent amongst our students, great to see our university recognises and celebrates exceptional students when they join, as well as those who develop their talents while studying here.
