MPharm Students Gain Invaluable Practical Insights into Diabetes Management

Over the last three weeks MPharm students have welcomed numerous external speakers during workshops relating to the management of Type 1/Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus as part of module PF6400 (Clinical Pharmacy Practice II).

During these sessions students listened to a personal story of living with Type 1 diabetes in Ireland from patient representative Ms Orla Duane, undertook hands-on insulin administration training with Novo Nordisk Medical Advisor Dr. David Burns and learned about the practicalities of continuous glucose monitoring from Ms. Helen Calnan (Abbott).

Exposure to such expertise and experiences in the management of Diabetes will be invaluable to the students as they begin their practice placements in early 2024.
