Professor Thomas Walther and the Department of Pharmacology would like to congratulate Dr Cathal McCarthy who along with two other Lecturers from UCC supervised Rachel Williamson who successfully completed her PhD and passed her Viva Examination.

Rachel Williamson successfully defended her PhD recently and worked under the supervision of Dr Cathal McCarthy, Dr Fergus McCarthy and Professor Louise Kenny. The title of her project was “Preclinical characterisation of mitochondrial antioxidants as novel therapeutics for the treatment of pre-eclampsia”. The external examiner for her thesis was Dr. Colin Murdoch (University of Dundee) and the internal examiner was Dr. Keelin O’Donoghue (Dept. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, UCC). Celebrations all around for this wonderful achievement.
