Brain Awareness Meeting - a great success

The Brain Awareness Meeting held at the Brookfield Health Sciences Centre on 14th March 2016 was organised by Dr Barry Boland of the Dept. Pharmacology & Therapeutics and funded by the Dana Foundation ( 

The meeting was a great success and delegates enjoyed presentations from researchers and clinicians, as well as from representatives from support and advocacy charities working in mental health/illness, brain tumours, brain injury and dementia.

Topics covered ranged from the cognitive and emotional consequences of a brain injury, resilience to stress, dementia and cultivating brain health. 

The Brain Awareness Week iniative was first developed 20 years ago by the DANA Alliance for the Brain Initiative (DABI).  Further information on European wide initiatives and research can be found through the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) at
