Annual Postgraduate Research Day Showcases Excellence in Paediatric and Child Health Research
Today, we had the pleasure of bringing together our postgraduate students for our annual research day. From early-stage projects to advanced doctoral research, students delivered high-quality presentations that generated engaging discussion and valuable feedback. The hybrid format enabled participation from students based outside Cork, supporting collaboration and knowledge exchange across our postgraduate community.
The event highlighted the breadth, innovation, and impact of research across the Department and its important contribution to advancing paediatric and child health.Students presented their research to date to faculty, Infant Research Staff and Cork University Hospital paediatric clinical staff. From early-stage research to more advanced projects, it was fantastic to see such high-quality research and thoughtful discussion throughout the day.
We were honoured to welcome Professor Susan Benseler, Chief Academic Officer, Children's Health Ireland, who delivered an insightful keynote address to both in-person and online attendees.
Presentations were also evaluated by faculty as part of our Early and Late Career Researcher awards. The winners were:
- First Place in the Early-Stage Research Category - Mr Conor Vaughan (PhD Student)
- Second Place in the Early-Stage Research Category - Dr Molly Creming (MD Student)
- Joint First Place in the Late-Stage Research Category Dr Cathal O'Connor (PhD Student)
- Joint First Place in the Late-Stage Research Category - Dr Anne Murray (PhD Student.
