UCC has launched a Smartcard project that will see the introduction of cashless services to the UCC ID Card, which more than 20,000 students and staff can avail of.

The Smartcard initiative, officially launched today (8 September 2014), covers printing and copying facilities and payments within outlets, as well as vending machines.

Existing cardholders can enable their current ID Cards for the new services through a ‘Tap & Go’ system. Once enabled, they can top-up and avail of the services.

Cardholders can top-up online or at cash facilities on campus.

Additionally, visitors to the UCC Campus may also avail of Smartcard payments through the use of a Visitor card which can be purchased on arrival.

To mark this substantial step forward for UCC payment services, UCC President Dr Michael Murphy was first to convert his existing Staff card into a Smartcard through a specially allocated ‘Tap & Go’ system (pictured).

Rose Lucey, Smartcard Manager, said the introduction of Smartcard services would enhance the Student, Staff and UCC Visitor experience.
