UCC book on Stalin wins award
UCC historian Professor Geoffrey Roberts' book Stalin's General: The Life of Georgy Zhukov has won the Society for Military History Distinguished Book Award for Biography.
Professor Roberts was presented with the award at the Society for Military History's annual conference in New Orleans recently where he also gave a paper on Zhukov's leadership qualities. His authoritative biography of the famous Soviet general has been widely and favourably reviewed by the Washington Post, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, The Irish Times, the Washington Times, The Scotsman, the New York Review of Books, the London Review of Books, BBC History, Forbes Magazine, History Today, and many other publications.
A paperback edition of the book will be published in May and it will also appear in Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Polish, Swedish, Estonian, Finnish and Portuguese editions.
