Two UCC PhD graduates were announced as recipients of Irish Fulbright Awards at a recent event at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in Dublin.

Niamh Daly is a PhD candidate in the Archaeology Department at UCC. Niamh will investigate female kinship ties in early medieval non-ecclesiastical populations from Ireland using archaeological bone chemistry in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change at Arizona State University.

Niamh O'Mahony  is a PhD candidate in English at  UCC and will pursue research on avant-garde poetry and literary criticism at Miami University, Ohio.

These awards are jointly funded by the Irish and US governments under the Ireland-United States (Fulbright) Commission for Educational Exchange. Fulbright scholarships have provided Irish students, scholars and professionals with the opportunity to study, lecture and research at top Universities and institutions in the U.S. since1957 such as Berkeley, Notre Dame and Harvard.

Applications are encouraged in all disciplines including the visual and performing arts.
