Bank of Ireland has been formally awarded a contract to provide primary banking services at University College Cork (UCC).

According to the terms of the five-year contract, Bank of Ireland will be the only financial institution represented across all of UCC campuses in the exclusive agreement.

Bursar at UCC Diarmuid Collins, says, “We are delighted with the outcome of the formal tendering process. The agreement further deepens the relationship between UCC and Bank of Ireland and will bring many advantages to the University community.”

The continued presence on campus of a dedicated UCC branch of Bank of Ireland is one of the benefits resulting from the agreement, which will greatly facilitate students and staff in their daily banking needs.

From September 2012, Bank of Ireland in conjunction with UCC will also offer loans to students to assist in the payment of the annual student contribution charge.

UCC will also be positioned to avail of the continued investment by Bank of Ireland in technology, which enables the University to bring further efficiencies to its financial processes.

Commenting on the awarding of this contract, David Merriman, Bank of Ireland Regional Manager Cork, says, “Bank of Ireland has a long and proud relationship with University College Cork. The extended contract allows the bank to continue to contribute in a meaningful way to the progress of UCC, its staff and its students at a time when education, research and adding value to the skills base of the economy has never been as important.”

“With our Student Contribution Charge and Post-Graduate student finance schemes, and our on-campus branch, managed by Gerry Ryan and his team, Bank of Ireland is well-placed to support and partner the UCC community in its continued success.”
