Polish Ambassador visits UCC
26.01.2012

His Excellency Mr Marcin Nawrot, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Republic of Poland, visited UCC earlier this week. This was the Ambassador’s first visit to the university. He was accompanied by his wife, Mrs Urszula Nawrot.  Following historic changes in Poland in 1989, Mr Nawrot held top posts in various Polish Ministries and also acted for some years as Poland’s Permanent Representative to the UN. He was appointed Ambassador to Ireland in October 2010.

Ambassador Nawrot paid a courtesy visit to UCC President, Dr Michael Murphy and delivered a guest lecture in the Aula Maxima on the topic: “The experience of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union”. Poland held the Presidency of the EU between June and December of 2011.

The event was organised by Mervyn O'Driscoll and Katherine McGarry of the School of History, in conjunction with the joint European Studies programme operated by the Schools of Geography and History for the past two decades.
