Rabobank Ireland is sponsoring the Rabobank Ireland 2012 Scholarship in association with the Centre for Co-operative Studies, University College Cork.

The programme has been set up to recognise and celebrate the 2012 UN International Year of the Co-operative.

The scholarship will be open to applications from anyone involved in a voluntary or paid capacity with a co-operative organisation or co-operative support body in Ireland intending to apply for the MBS in Co-operative and Social Enterprise by e-learning offered by University College Cork in 2012. The MBS is a combination of learning modules and a thesis. To qualify for the Rabobank Ireland 2012 Scholarship the content of the thesis must be on a food, agriculture or agribusiness topic.

The programme will start in September 2012. This launch marks the call for entries and the application form will be available on the UCC and Rabobank websites. The closing date will be the 1st June 2012.

Dr Michael Murphy, President of University College Cork added: “UCC is totally committed to forging stronger relationships with industry and in engaging proactively in research and education which is of direct relevance to the needs of modern day businesses. The provision of this scholarship by Rabobank Ireland is most appropriate and is recognition of the genuine commitment by Rabobank to co-operative education and research. I very much welcome and endorse the collaboration between Rabobank and UCC and look forward to the continued fostering of this strategically important alliance.”
