A new academic programme, MBS Asian Business, has been launched at UCC. The programme will be delivered by UCC in partnership with Nanyang Business School at Nanyang Technological University and the Farmleigh Fellowship Foundation with the support of Irish companies active in Asia.

Speaking at the launch of the new programme, Professor Fan Hong, Head of the School of Asian Studies at UCC, paid tribute to those involved in bringing about this exciting new co-operation. President of UCC, Dr Michael Murphy, welcomed the students and launched the MBS Asian Business.  Also present were Registrar and Senior Vice-President Academic, Professor Paul Giller, members of Farmleigh Fellowship Foundation and UCC staff who contributed to the implementation of the new programme.

The MBS students will spend three months at UCC and nine months in Asia with four months at NTU in Singapore and five months with leading Irish and Irish connected companies and organisations in various locations across Asia. “The support and guidance for students on the ground in Asia from local Irish Diaspora will be a unique feature of the learning experience”, said Professor Fan Hong.

UCC School of Asian Studies and the College of Business and Law will deliver the foundation modules on Asian culture, politics, economics and business and prepare them for their work experience in a multi-cultural Asian environment.

Nanyang Business School will deliver the business modules in Singapore which will immerse the students in Asian best practice.

Supervision will be offered by UCC academic staff, the Farmleigh Fellowship and the management of placement companies which include some of the outstanding companies in Irish industry.
