Undergraduate and postgraduate contributors represented a wide range of disciplines, including Social Policy, Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Sociology, Law, Government, Education and Women's Studies.
Following the welcome address by Professor Fred Powell, Dean of Social Science and Head of the School of Applied Social Studies, Fintan O’Toole delivered the keynote address. Conference papers focused on key social issues in contemporary society exploring topics such as child welfare, policy-making processes, civil partnership, gender-based violence, social service delivery, social research methodologies, and education and welfare."
This is the second annual conference held by the School of Applied Social Studies, made possible through a funding grant from NAIRTL in 2010.
