Calling all Star Gazers

For the first time visitors to UCC will have access to the Crawford Observatory on the free historical walking tours of the campus this week as part of Heritage Week.  The Crawford Observatory houses some of the country’s oldest working telescopes.

The tours will run from today (Monday 22nd Aug) to Friday meeting at the Visitors’ Centre in the Main Quadrangle  at 3pm and will last approximately an hour.  Many of the UCC restaurants will be open where visitors can enjoy refreshments afterwards.

 The tour will take in the history and development of  UCC from its origins as Queen’s College Cork to the modern university which now has approximatley 20,000 students. Visitors will also see the Aula Maxima, Main Quadrangle, Ogham Stone Corridor and the  Honan Chapel.
