UCC/CIT vs Australian International Rules Team

UCC/CIT will play the Australian International Rules Team on Wednesday, October 20th in Páirc Uí Rinn at 6pm.

The Cork team will contain the cream of young intercounty talent from both Colleges including many who featured on the winning All-Ireland Football Team. Unfortunately, UCC’s All Star, Shane O’Neill will be an absentee due to Club commitments but “Young GAA Player of the Year” and All-Star Aidan Walsh from CIT will be part of the squad.

The UCC/CIT team will be managed by Des Cullinane (Coach to three UCC Sigerson Cup winning Teams, two Higher Education Leagues, one Cork County Championship and one Munster Club) and Keith Ricken (Coach to CIT Sigerson Cup Winning Team)

Among the GAA charities to benefit will be the Alan Kerins Fund which is being supported by a large number of the Cork Senior Hurling Panel and Heads Up, a UCC Students’ Union Charity.

UCC President, Dr Michael Murphy will host a reception for both squads in Devere Hall, Áras na Mac Léinn, UCC on Tuesday, October 19th at 7pm to mark this prestigious occasion.

The Australians had a light workout in the Mardyke this morning (Monday) and will have a further workout there on Wednesday prior to the game.

This game is a warm up for the Irish Mail International Series between Ireland and Australia which will take place in Limerick on Saturday, October 23rd and in Croke Park on Saturday, 30th October 2010.Visit www.gaa.ie for all details and for ticket information.

Admission to the game at Pairc Ui Rinn is free for juveniles. Adults will be asked to give a donation to local Cork GAA charities.
