Science on the rise at UCC

CAO points for Science programmes in UCC have increased this year reflecting the national trend.
Biological and Chemical Science and Chemical Sciences increased by 25 and 35 points respectively, while Genetics, Computer Science and Nutritional Sciences also saw a significant increase in points. Electrical and Electronic Engineering is up 60 points and the Joint UCC-CIT programme in Biomedical Science rose by 80 points to 490.  Mathematical Sciences continues to attract high calibre students and at 500 points is one of the highest nationally. Professor Patrick Fitzpatrick, Head of the College of Science, Engineering and Food Science, welcomed the news today acknowledging that students and parents now realise that these are key growth areas for the national economy and that globally, job prospects in these sectors remain promising.
