The Cavanagh Pharmacy Building (CPB) is widely recognised as a state-of-the-art infrastructure for teaching and research across all aspects of the Pharmaceutical Sciences. In addition, it plays a critical role for interaction with external stakeholders in the healthcare and industrial arenas.
Included in the building is a unique industry suite designed to facilitate partnership with pharmaceutical companies ranging from start-up companies to multinational organisations. The School is delighted to welcome its new partner to occupy this suite – NexPhar.

NexPhar is a start-up biotechnology company focused on novel formulation technology in women's health and Orphan illnesses. Speaking about the new laboratory facilities in UCC, Geraldine Carr-Mulry, Project Director, NexPhar, commented that  "Access to the resources and infrastructure in the Cavanagh Pharmacy Building at UCC enables us to undertake critical early stage development which will underpin our future strategy as a company. In addition collaboration with the research teams in the School of Pharmacy and the Analytical and Biological Chemistry Research Facility will open new opportunities to NexPhar at this early stage in its development."

Welcoming NexPhar to the industry suite Professor Anita Maguire, Head of School and Director of the ABCRF highlighted the "importance of ensuring undergraduate and postgraduate students in UCC are exposed to innovative industrial research at an early stage in their careers to ensure they are aware of opportunities in this area".

Myriam Cronin, Manager, Western Gateway UCC Incubation Centre, says “that access to the highly specialised facilities in the CPB industry suite complements the incubation infrastructure available elsewhere in UCC.”
