International Cultures Festival
22.02.2010

The International Cultures Festival opened today (February 22nd 2010) at UCC.

The two-day festival is an annual event at the university.  It provides the approximately 2,400 international students from some 98 countries who are studying at UCC with the opportunity to showcase their cultures to their fellow students, to the staff of the institution and to the wider Cork community.   Events include dance displays, exhibitions on individual countries and an international quiz. The highlight of this year’s festival is the photographic competition. The theme of the competition is international students’ impressions of UCC and of life in Cork and Ireland.  The response to the competition has been tremendous and the entries will be on display in Devere Hall in the Student Centre/Áras na Mac Léinn with prize winners announced tomorrow (February 23rd 2010).

The festival, which is organised by the International Education Office and the Student Centre/Áras na Mac Léinn, was opened by Mr Con O’Brien, Vice-President for the Student Experience, UCC.
