Health Economists’ Study Group 2010 Conference
13.04.2010

Steve Morris, Professor of Health Economics, University College London, recently visited the Department of Economics, UCC to launch the Health Economists’ Study Group (HESG) 2010 Conference. This is the first time that the HESG will host the conference scheduled for June 2010.

The range of works traditionally presented at the conference will include economic evaluation, health outcome measurement and the finance and organisation of health care. Other areas such as patient demand, behaviour by hospitals, pharmaceuticals and employees therein will also be considered and discussed.

The Health Economists’ Study Group, popularly known as HESG, was founded in 1972 and exists to support and promote the work of health economists. Although it has an academic function, to create and transmit knowledge and ideas, its members work in commercial, academic and government settings also. Research by group members is applied and policy orientated, grounded in economic theory.

The HESG conference will run from June  23rd-25th 2010 in The River Lee Hotel (formerly Jurys).  For further details see http://www.ucc.ie/en/economics/HESG2010/ or contact hesg2010@ucc.ie
