Are you considering doing a PhD but are not sure where to start?  Then you can find the answers at UCC’s Postgraduate Study Information Week running from February 1st- 5th 2010.

To showcase its unique range of taught and research postgraduate opportunities, UCC will host a Postgraduate Study Information Week from February 1st to 5th 2010. Jointly organised by the Careers Service and Graduate Studies Office, the many events running during the week will inform prospective applicants of all postgraduate study options available.

One of main events running during the week will be a Postgraduate Open Day which will take place on Wednesday, February 3rd from 11am to 3pm in Devere Hall, Student Centre. Prospective students will have the opportunity to speak to programme coordinators, careers advisors and graduate admissions personnel about the programmes on offer at UCC and receive guidance on the application process. A Fair for UCC Students will also run on Thursday, February 4th with a number of external institutions exhibiting.

According to Michelle Nelson, Head of the Graduate Studies Office at UCC, there has been a noticeable increase in enquiries about postgraduate study, particularly among experienced graduates hoping to change direction or gain additional skills.  “I hope the Postgraduate Open Day will provide potential applicants with appropriate information on programme content, application procedures and career options to facilitate more informed decision-making,” Michelle added.

There will be a series of talks running during the week covering a wide range of topics. These will include postgraduate research options, applying for research degrees, conversion courses, and an overview of a number of taught programmes.
