The Minister for Education and Science has appointed Professor Caroline Fennell as Chairperson of the Irish Research Council for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS).

The Minister for Education and Science has appointed Professor Caroline Fennell as Chairperson of the Irish Research Council for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS).
Professor Fennell is formerly Dean of Law at UCC and succeeds Professor Maurice Bric of UCD. The Council is responsible for allocating €14.4m in postgraduate research grants each year in the arts, humanities and social sciences.
A qualified barrister, Professor Fennell has also lectured at Oxford University, the University of West Florida and the London School of Economics and is author of a number of books on Irish law.
