Harvard Teaching and Learning expert in UCC

Dr Abigail Lipson, Director of the Bureau of Study Counsel at Harvard University, is visiting UCC this week (March 23rd-27th) on the invitation of the Vice-President for Teaching and Learning, Professor Grace Neville.

Dr Abigail Lipson, Director of the Bureau of Study Counsel at Harvard University, is visiting UCC this week (March 23rd-27th) on the invitation of the Vice-President for Teaching and Learning, Professor Grace Neville.
While in UCC, Dr Lipson is leading workshops and discussions with academic and administrative colleagues on strategies for helping our students to become better learners. A graduate of Duke, Harvard and Amherst, Dr Lipson directed the American University Counselling Center in Washington DC for eight years and has worked at Harvard for the past 15 years. Her professional interests include how students learn and grow in college; how people make and remake life decisions and live with the consequences; the relationships between learning, motivation, achievement, and creativity; persistence in the face of failure; persistence in the face of success; the creative process in the arts and sciences.
