An Taoiseach is presented with “Jack Lynch – A Biography”

Professor Dermot Keogh, author of “Jack Lynch – A Biography” presented a copy of the book to An Taoiseach, Brian Cowen when he was invited to Government Buildings recently.
An Taoiseach’s interest in history was reflected in October last when he delivered the keynote address at a conference on Jack Lynch “Jack Lynch: Politics and Sport, Personality and Leadership” in UCC.
 
Dermot Keogh is Head of the Department of History at UCC and is a member of the Royal Irish Academy. He spent over eight years researching and writing the biography of Jack Lynch.  He has published widely on various aspects of twentieth century Irish, European and international history.

Professor Keogh is one of the editors of Documents on Irish Foreign Policy (Volume VI), covering the years 1939-1941, which was published in November 2008. He is the principal investigator for an IRCHSS-funded project on the History of Ireland and European Integration. His book, Jews in twentieth century Ireland: refugees, anti-semitism and the holocaust (Cork University Press, 1998), was awarded the 1999 James S. Donnelly Snr. Prize by the American Conference for Irish Studies in the history/social science category and was reprinted in 2002 and 2006. His most recent publications are 1916: The Long Revolution (co-edited with Gabriel Doherty), published by Mercier Press, Cork, 2007; The Making of the 1937 Constitution (with Andrew McCarthy), published by Mercier Press, Cork and Dublin, 2007 and (co-edited with Diarmuid Whelan), Gerald Goldberg, A Tribute, also published by Mercier Press, Cork, 2008.

“Jack Lynch – A Biography”, was published in late autumn 2008 by Gill and Macmillan, Dublin.
