Utrecht Network Annual Meeting at UCC
22.04.2008

UCC hosted the annual meeting of the Utrecht Network on Friday, April 18th and Saturday, April 19th.  The network consists of thirty members (representing thirty-three European universities) co-operating in the area of internationalisation in the broadest sense of the word.
The members of the group, all prominent and broadly based educational institutions, come from most EU member states and affiliated countries with one institution from the smaller EU states and two from the larger member states.

Founded in the 1980s, the Utrecht Network was established as a small group of universities that was active in student exchanges within Europe. The network has grown over the years and student mobility now totals almost 1200 students. UCC has been a member of the network since the early 1990s.

The activities of the Utrecht Network cover the broad range of the internationalisation of higher education. The group is active in the areas of student mobility, staff exchange, internationalisation of curricula, joint curricula, double degrees, joint PhDs and summer schools. In addition, as a consortium, the group works with a number of external partners in the USA and Australia.

Hosted by UCC's International Education Office, the annual meeting was attended by 44 representatives from the network along with representatives from Mid-America Universities International (MAUI) and the Australian European Network (AEN).
