University College Cork (UCC) climbs 60 places in Times Higher Education World University Rankings
09.10.2008

UCC has advanced by 60 places in the Times Higher Education/QS World University Rankings to 226th amongst the world's top universities. This compares to a ranking of 286th place in the 2007 table.
The excellent showing by UCC reflects the continued capital investment in infrastructure in key strategic areas and the strong emphasis on the quality of teaching and learning in the University.  The University's success is also attributable to the student experience on UCC's increasingly cosmopolitan campus and the highly positive feedback received from employers of UCC graduates.

UCC now has a student population of some 18,860. Research income exceeds more than $120 million annually and the number of research staff has grown to 1,300 people.

Over the past decade, UCC has invested over $600 million in new facilities, particularly in the Health Sciences, IT and a major extension to the Boole Library.
