UCC Students to compete in International Client Counselling Competition in Bangalore

The Law Society of Ireland, Cork will again be represented by two UCC students, trainees Jennifer Keane and Marie Gavin, at the International Final of the Louis M. Brown Client Counselling Competition which takes place in Bangalore, India next month.

The Law Society of Ireland, Cork will again be represented by two UCC students, trainees Jennifer Keane and Marie Gavin, at the International Final of the Louis M. Brown Client Counselling Competition which takes place in Bangalore, India next month.
This prestigious competition was started in the 1960s by Los Angeles
lawyer Louis M. Brown to address the need in legal education to include
the skills of interviewing and advising. The competition became
international in 1985 and has been an annual competitive event open to
universities across the world.
The Law Society of Ireland, Cork was successful last year in winning the competition. Melanie Evans and Michelle Cronin ably represented the Law Society of Ireland at the Final of the Competition held at the University of Sydney.
Since 2006 the Law Society of Ireland has offered its professional training courses for solicitors in Cork, in association with the Law Faculty at UCC. The course has been very popular, with 106 students currently enrolled on the first stage of the Professional Practice Course (PPC1).
