2008 Press Releases
12.08.2008
University College Cork (UCC) will host Orientation 2008 for First Year Students and new entrants from 8-21 September 2008. The Orientation Programme which coincides with Registration prepares incoming students for their First Year at UCC.
This year, for the first time, the University will host a Freshers Fest. The Freshers Fest will run over two days on 20 and 21 September. The two day party will celebrate the very best of student life - from the serious business of attending essential workshops/presentations and demonstrations to the fun side of music, sport and theatre performances.
The ultimate objective of a University-wide Orientation Programme is to provide all incoming first year students with a cohesive, integrated, comprehensive and consistent induction to UCC. Prior to the commencement of lectures, Orientation and the Freshers Fest will allow students to familiarize themselves with the University and key sources of information and support.
The transition to third level is made easier for students who participate in the Orientation Programme as they develop relationships with colleges/faculty/departments and administrative staff in their early days at university. Attending Orientation also affords the opportunity to meet other students and make new friends.
