UCC hosts Second Annual Postgraduate Conference on Criminal Justice & Human Rights 2008

The Second Annual Postgraduate Conference on Criminal Justice & Human Rights takes place today (Thursday, May 1st 2008). 
The event has been organised under the auspices of the Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights (CCJHR) in the Faculty of Law, UCC. Delivering the keynote address titled The Future of UN Human Rights Treaty Monitoring is Professor Michael O'Flaherty, Professor of Applied Human Rights and Co-Director of the Human Rights Law Centre in the University of Nottingham.  Professor O'Flaherty is also an elected member of the United Nations Human Rights Committee.

This year's conference sees postgraduate researchers from Ireland and further afield presenting papers on a wide variety of topics in the areas of criminal justice and human rights and the intersection between the two. Papers delivered at the conference reflect research on topics such as Discourses in International Criminal Law & Crime Control, Gender and the Law and Contemporary Challenges in Constitutional and Administrative Law.
