Polish students attend UCC's Credit Union Summer School

A group of Polish students and academics from a Gdansk Business College recently attended the 15th annual residential Credit Union Summer School hosted by UCC's Centre for Co-operative Studies.
The purpose of the Polish visit was to investigate the possibility of offering UCC modules, including the Summer School on their programmes in the future.  A total of 94 participants attended the week-long event which included talks and interactive workshops with both academics and practitioners, national and international. In addition to Poland, students came from Ireland, Scotland and Uganda.  This year's speakers included R H (Bob) Burlton, Chair, Co-operative Financial Services and President of Consumers Co-operatives Worldwide, former CEO of Midland Counties Co-op, UK, Chair of the Co-operative Group, UK and Co-operatives UK; Mr Uel Adair, President of the Irish League of Credit Unions and Mr Brendan Logue, Registrar of Credit Unions, Irish Financial Services Regulatory Authority (IFSRA).
